The number of top rankers in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) Entrance Exam will drop from 67 to 61 as the National Testing Agency (Exam Conducting Agency of NEET UG) has decided to withdraw grace marks given to 1,563 students, NTA officials said on Thursday.
As soon as NTA (National Testing Agency) released the re-examination date for 1563 students, the number of top rankers decreased. NTA has released the re-examination date for all those students whose result was released with grace marks.
Of these 1,563 candidates who appeared for the medical entrance exam (NEET UG Entrance Exam 2024) from a center in Haryana, six had jointly topped the exam along with 61 others.
Amidst the NEET UG Result 2024 Controversy, a member of the committee formed by NTA told the Supreme Court that the grace marks given to 1563 students should be canceled. The Supreme Court was forced to abolish the grace marks by the statement given by the NEET committee member.
Now the students who got grace marks have two options. NTA has given both these options to all 1563 students. All the candidates who have got grace marks should know both options.
- All the 1563 students who were given results with grace marks will have to appear in the NEET 2024 re-exam to be held on June 23.
- If the candidates do not want to appear for the NEET UG 2024 re-exam to be held on 23rd June, then they will have to give up the grace marks. They will have to be satisfied with the marks that remain after excluding the grace marks.
NTA has given these two options to all the affected 1563 students who got grace marks due to time loss. All the affected 1563 candidates will have to choose one of these two options.
