The government lawyer told the court judge that these NEET UG 2024 candidates will be informed about their actual marks, which will not include the grace marks and they will be given the option to appear in the NEET exam again. If they do not want to appear in the NEET exam again, their marks of NEET Undergraduate held on May 5 will remain valid. This decision was taken after the new exam date for NEET 2024 was decided by NTA, the most popular exam-conducting agency.

The re-exam for NEET UG 2024 will be held on June 23, 2024, with the results expected before the counseling begins on July 1. The Supreme Court clarified that only those candidates will be eligible for the re-examination of the NEET UG exam whose exam center was delayed.
The grace marks were intended to compensate for the alleged loss of time during the NEET exam. However, the decision to scrap the grace marks comes amid allegations of widespread irregularities and unfair marking practices in the national medical entrance exam.
To address widespread concerns about the fairness of the medical entrance exam, the NTA (National Testing Agency) will set up a Grievance Redressal Committee. This Grievance Redressal Committee will look into all kinds of complaints raised by students, parents, and teachers, ensure transparency, and resolve any issues related to the NEET UG exam process. The NTA (National Testing Agency) has decided to keep the identity of the members of the four-member committee confidential to ensure a fair investigation.
Subodh Kumar, Director General of NTA, the exam conducting agency for NEET UG, stressed that all necessary measures are being taken to address the concerns raised by students, teachers, and parents. He assured all students, teachers, and parents that the NTA is fully committed to maintaining the credibility and integrity of the NEET UG exam process, ensuring that all NEET UG 2024 students are treated fairly and justly.
